Olympic style sparring and poomsae training for W1 students who want to compete
The W1 Competition Team is an invitation only program for W1 Taekwondo students who want to train and compete in Olympic style sparring and poomsae. Team members train with Master Adrian, a 5th Dan black belt, former Romanian National Team member and multiple National Champion in Olympic sparring, together with the rest of the W1 coaching staff. Over the last four years, W1 students have brought home 14 national titles in Olympic sparring at USA Taekwondo and AAU nationals. The team trains in Cedar Mill and competes at local, regional and national events.
You do not have to compete to train at W1, and most of our students never do. The team exists for the students who want to find out how far they can take it. The standard the team trains to is the same standard taught in every class.
Over the last four years, W1 students have won 14 national titles in Olympic sparring at USA Taekwondo and AAU nationals. Those athletes started where every W1 student starts, in a regular Kids, Teen or Adult class.
Their Olympic sparring team is also one of the best in the whole state!Jane Bridges, Google review
The team is invitation only. Coaches select students out of the regular Kids, Teen and Adult programs based on dedication, skill and drive. If competing is the goal, the first step is consistent training in a regular class, where the coaching staff can see the work.
Competing costs money. The W1 Foundation covers training costs and electronic sparring equipment for team athletes, and rewards strong competitive results, so what a family can afford does not decide how far a student goes.
