Everything you need to know about Taekwondo classes at W1 Taekwondo in Cedar Mill, Beaverton & Bethany.
W1 Taekwondo teaches students starting at age 4 through adult, with separate Kids (4-12), Teen (13-17), and Adult (18+) programs, plus a licensed After School program with pickup from local schools.
No prior experience is required - every program at W1 Taekwondo is built to welcome complete beginners alongside more experienced students, with instruction paced to the individual.
Taekwondo is the most dynamic of the striking martial arts, built on coordination, agility, and speed, which makes it one of the best foundations for kids and adults who want to develop real athleticism, cross-train for other sports, or just build a healthier, more agile body and mind. At W1, that's not just a philosophy: our instructors come from a high-performance Olympic sparring background, and our competition team is proof of how far that training can take someone who starts as a complete beginner. You don't have to compete to train with us, but everyone at W1 has the chance to push their athletic ability, grit, and focus as far as they want to take it.
W1 Taekwondo is based in Cedar Mill and serves families throughout Cedar Mill, Beaverton, and Bethany, with students regularly traveling from all three communities to train.
New students can start with the current Fall Season Special - 3 months of classes for $249 with a free uniform - with no long-term contract required; ongoing membership pricing is provided during a free trial class.
No - W1 Taekwondo's introductory offers are no-risk and contract-free, so new students can try classes before committing to a membership.
Comfortable athletic clothing is fine for a first trial class; students who continue on receive a uniform (dobok) as part of their enrollment.
Most W1 students take about 4 to 5 years to earn their 1st Dan Black Belt, following the standard Kukkiwon rank system. We only award official Kukkiwon certification, no shortcuts, no made up belts. We've produced hundreds of Black Belts at W1, and our students have brought home 14 national titles in Olympic sparring over the last four years.
Yes - every new student can request a free trial class through the website or by calling (503) 626-1888 before enrolling in any program.
W1 Taekwondo is led by Master Adrian, a 5th Dan black belt, former Romanian National Team member, and multiple National Champion and international medalist in Olympic sparring, with more than 20 years of competitive and teaching experience.
Yes, our adult program is one of our favorite parts of W1. It's a mix of beginners and experienced students, ages roughly 28 to 70, including professionals from companies like Intel and Nike who choose to spend their evenings training with us. Classes are a 40-minute, high-energy workout with reaction-based, strength-based, and team games built in, plus real milestones to work toward, since belt ranks give adults the same sense of progress kids get. Two of our adult members, Ken and Todd, lost over 20 lbs and are still active in the program years later. Terry reached age 70 with us after starting at 66. Marny earned her Black Belt starting as a complete white belt in her late 60s. A lot of our adult students end up becoming real friends outside of class, too.
Yes, it's actually one of the things we see most often. One W1 parent described their son as someone who "shys away from group classes and finds trying new activities overwhelming." Within a couple of weeks of starting at W1, he was already showing leadership in class, and within a couple of months, he earned his yellow belt. We build confidence the same way we build any other skill: in small, achievable steps, at each student's own pace.
Not currently. We're focused on our core Kids, Teen, Adult, and After-School programs. If that changes, we'll update this page.
W1 Taekwondo holds a 5.0-star rating across 186 Google reviews, with parents most frequently citing Master Adrian's teaching, the growth in their children's confidence and discipline, and the sense of community among families.
W1 Taekwondo is led directly by a 5th Dan national-level competitor rather than a franchise model, and combines a top local review rating with an active YouTube channel where families can see real training content before ever visiting in person.

The W1 Foundation supports our competition team athletes directly, covering training costs and electronic sparring equipment, and rewarding students for strong competitive results. It's our way of giving local athletes who want to push themselves in high-level Olympic Taekwondo sparring a real path to do it, regardless of what they can afford on their own.
